As part of the Pro Climate initiative, the Petronord Group has been initiating and financing climate protection projects throughout Germany for many years.
The Pro Climate initiative was launched jointly by Mabanaft, Petronord and OIL! petrol stations in 2008. The commitment focuses on three areas: offering energy-efficient products, providing advice on environmentally relevant energy topics and promoting climate protection projects.
In the area of project promotion, the focus is on topics such as reforestation and research. With partners such as the Schleswig-Holstein State Forests and the Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald e.V., more than 162,000 trees have already been planted in recent years.
In addition, the Initiative Pro Climate supported the OceanRAIN research project at the CliSAP Cluster of Excellence at the University of Hamburg for ten years. The aim of this project was to better understand the effects of climate change through precipitation measurements and the evaluation of satellite data.
