Petronord Acquires a Stake in Swedish Petroleum Company PS Olje

Hamburg | 22.06.2017

The Petronord group, which operates a network of end-user businesses in Germany and Austria, will now be active in Sweden for the first time following its latest transaction. The group has acquired a stake in the petroleum company PS Olje AB with effect from July 1, 2017. The company’s portfolio ideally complements Petronord's core businesses.

The Swedish company PS Olje is a regionally established company that operates in three areas: heating oil and diesel trading, the lubricants business, and unmanned service stations. From its headquarters in Halmstad, a town located between Malmö and Gothenburg in southern Sweden, the company operates its business with a team of 15 employees.

Petronord owns its stake in PS Olje through the newly established Swedish holding Eficientec AB based in Stockholm. The remaining shares in PS Olje are owned by the siblings Linda and Magnus Sjöo, who will continue to manage the operations in Sweden.

Petronord aims to further expand its trading business in Sweden. In this context, the acquisition of Energi & värme i Blekinge by PS Olje, which also becomes effective on July 1, 2017, is consistent with Petronord’s growth strategy.

Energi & värme i Blekinge, headquartered in Karlskrona, a port city in the southern Swedish province of Blekinge Iän, is active in the heating oil and diesel business, and complements PS Olje’s sales region perfectly. The acquisition offers promising opportunities for a further expansion of the service station business. Energi & värme i Blekinge will continue to be run by the current owners under their established business name, as a branch office of PS Olje.

Petronord is a subsidiary of Mabanaft, the trading division of Marquard & Bahls, Germany. Under the umbrella of Petronord, retail companies in Germany and Austria are active in the heating oil and diesel end-consumer business, the lubricants distribution, the operation of service stations for commercial trucking fleets ("pool stations") as well as in the trading of bitumen, wood pellets, and natural gas. ► back to the overview
