The deal is done: the newly founded company NordBit GmbH & Co. KG based in Hamburg will start its targeted marketing of bitumen and bitumen components on August 1, 2017.
In November 2016, the Petronord subsidiary Mabanol Bitumen GmbH & Co. KG, Hamburg, and H&R Refining GmbH, Salzbergen, announced the establishment of a joint venture, which has now been approved by the antitrust authorities. The two partners own equal stakes and will contribute their experience to the newly founded company.
NordBit purchases and markets bitumen products from the H&R production sites in Hamburg and Salzbergen, among others. Its clientele includes German and international customers as well as end users in various sectors. The focus is on industrial applications, road construction, roof waterproofing, landfill and dike construction.
NordBit will be managed by three Managing Directors: Robertus van Lingen and Frank Albrecht – both of Mabanol Bitumen GmbH & Co. KG – as well as Angela Sahm, who was appointed by H&R Refining GmbH.
Petronord is a subsidiary of Mabanaft, the trading division of Marquard & Bahls, Germany. Under the umbrella of Petronord, retail companies in Germany and Austria are active in the heating oil and diesel end-consumer business, the lubricants distribution, the operation of service stations for commercial trucking fleets ("pool stations") as well as in the trading of bitumen, wood pellets, and natural gas.
The Hansen & Rosenthal group of companies is active in the fields of development, manufacture and marketing for chemical-pharmaceutical specialties. Together with H&R GmbH & Co. KGaA, the group operates two specialty refineries in Germany, in Hamburg and Salzbergen. H&R Refining GmbH is a subsidiary of the Hansen & Rosenthal Group and was hitherto responsible as such for the marketing of bitumen products from these refineries. ► back to the overview
